Arizona Learns
Montezuma Middle School is a Performing school according to Arizona Learns.
Performing status is determined by standards set by the state of Arizona. A school's status is determined by the performances of its students on the reading, mathematics and writing portions of the AIMS test and by the schoo'ss drop-out rate, graduation rate and Adequate Yearly Progress status.
Adequate Yearly Progress
Montezuma Middle School does not accept Federal Funds, and as a result does not enter the inprovement cycles required by No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
Public schools are listed as making Adequate Yearly Progress according to guidelines of the federal NCLB. Adequate Yearly Progress status is based on the percentage of students who pass the state AIMS reading and mathematics tests, the percentage of students who take the required AIMS tests as well as our attendance rate.
MMS has consistently had enough students take the required tests. As a small school (fewer than 40 students), we are not required to meet the pass rate. Even though we are not required to do so, we are working to improve our attendance rate in order to bring it into compliance with NCLB mandates.
